The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has emphasised the crucial role of human resources management in the success of any organisation.

Mrs. Bertina Bamgbose, chairman of the institute’s Ota branch, made this statement during a sporting event organised for members to unwind. She stressed the need for personnel managers to prioritise their health and well-being to effectively discharge their duties.

“As the backbone of the workforce in any organisation, personnel managers need to take good care of their health to be able to discharge their duties effectively,” Bamgbose said.

The event, held at the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) office in Ota, Ogun state, was the first of its kind for the branch.

Bamgbose praised personnel managers as “unsung heroes” who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the workforce.

“From recruitment to retirement, these professionals are involved in every stage of an employee’s journey. Their roles are complex, challenging, and often go unnoticed,” she stated.

“Today, we recognise, acknowledge, and celebrate their invaluable contributions to the labour force. We also use this opportunity to remind Human Resource professionals that they are the heartbeat of their organisations. Your well-being is not a luxury. By taking care of yourself, you are better equipped to take care of others,” she added.
