Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United moved closer to the quarter-final of the competition with another victory over the visiting DC Motema Pembe of DR Congo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The game was supposed to have taken place on Wednesday but had to be postponed to Thursday after the Congolese failed to arrive in Nigeria for the game.

The Nigerian side dominated the game from the kickoff and it was Paul Acquah who opened the scoring in the encounter.

Acquah was also responsible for the lone goal scored on matchday 3 against the same opponent. The Ghanaian star scored the second goal in the 55th minute before Mydo Nakohou Yallet reduced the deficit in the 78th minute.

Acquah completed his hat-trick with the third goal in the 94th minute and ensured a 3-1 win coupled with maximum points for the Pride of Rivers.

The result means that Rivers United returned to the top of the table with 9 points and ASEC Mimosa dropped to second position with 7 points with Diable Noirs and DC Motema Pembe in 3rd and 4th respectively.
