Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George has reportedly resigned from his position.

Former Media Officer of the Super Eagles, Toyin Ibitoye confirmed the development in an X post on Saturday.

“News just in: Finidi George @FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his @NGSuperEagles manager position,” Ibitoye tweeted.

The reason for Finidi’s resignation could not be immediately ascertained but it is believed to be connected to the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) announcement that it plans to engage a foreign technical adviser for the men’s senior national team.

Media Officer of the Super Eagles, Ademola Olajire could not be immediately reached for comments as his known phone number was switched off as of the time of filing this report.

Finidi was employed on April 29, 2024, to replace Portuguese tactician, Jose Peseiro, whose contract expired in February.

The former Nigerian international has faced criticism following a string of poor results that have left the Super Eagles on the verge of being eliminated from the 2026 World Cup qualification.
