Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Yusuf Buratai  has warned states in the country to be on the alert against activities of fleeing Boko Haram members who now disguise as herdsmen.
Buratai also said with the intensive campaign against members of Boko Haram in the North East by the military, other parts of the country should be on the lookout as remnants of the fleeing Boko Haram members might be seeking refuge outside the North.
Buratai said this during his visit to Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunke Amosun at his Oke-Mosan office, as part of his tour of army formations in the state.
The army chief appealed to Nigerians to be vigilant as some fleeing Boko Haram members had been making efforts to seek refuge in other regions to continue to perpetrate their evil acts. He feared that some of the insurgents might have infiltrated herdsmen now being alleged to be perpetrating violence in different parts of the country.
He also urged Nigerians, especially those living in the South, to be vigilant to check the possibility of having fleeing Boko Haram insurgents in their midst.
Buratai, however, assured that the army had flushed out the insurgents from their hideouts and added that troops have recaptured lost territories.
Governor Amosun, however, advocated the creation of a division of the Nigerian Army in the state.
He said with the rise in the population of Ogun State to over seven million, coupled with the expansion of its economy, the state was ripe for the location of a full-fledged army division.
He also commended the military for the recent return of one of the kidnapped Chibok girls and prayed for the safe return of others still being held captive.
