More reactions continue to trail the attack and killings, by suspected herdsmen, of innocent Benue citizens as a group known as Nigeria NGO Network on Humanitarian Development Initiative (NINGONET) has decried the incessant killing of women and children in the recent herdsmen attack on Benue communities.

President of NINGONET, Josephine Habba, led hundreds of women to the Government House, in Makurdi, to express their grievances over the attack condemned the killing of the people by the invading herdsmen particularly the killing of women and children.

In her speech, Habba regretted that despite several alarms raised by the Benue State Government to the Federal Government on the planned attack on the Benue people by the herdsmen, nothing was done to nip it in the bud until the herdsmen made good their promise.

Habba, who lamented that thousands of people, particularly women and children have become displaced as a result of the recent attacks on the Benue communities therefore called on the federal government and international communities to be more sensitive to the humanitarian challenges in the state.

“We are condemning these killings not only in Benue alone but all other states where killings of women and children are taking place across the country. We are therefore imploring the federal government and the international partners to spread their humanitarian intervention beyond the north eastern part of Nigeria.

On her part, Jennifer Igoh who spoke on behalf of Jireh Doo Foundation expressed sadness over the killing while also commiserating with families of those who lost their lives in the attacks.

“We are here to commiserate with the Benue people on the killings in the state and also to register our grievances over the senseless killings. We told the governor that we are not happy with the development and we have come together as a group to tell President Buhari to do more in bringing this senseless killings to an end.
