A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Edo State chapter, Mr. Darlington Okpebholo has called on the Legacy Group of the party to come out from their hidings, work for the governorship candidate of the party, Asue Ighodalo and stop paying nocturnal visit to him.
He made the call while reacting to the recent development in the party as it moves into campaign proper.
Mr. Okpebholo, the publisher of the Truth Live News Media, said that the party under the leadership of Godwin Obaseki is ready to forgive them of their actions of trying to drag the aims of progress backwards but that they should come out boldly and identify with the party noting that, there is nothing like Legacy Group anymore because it is dead and buried in the state.
“We are aware that some of those who are still pretending to be members of the extinct, illegal and unconstitutional group called “Legacy PDP” who are ashamed or scared to openly declare for Asue Ighodalo because of their leaders, have been meeting with the incoming governor- Asue Ighodalo and his running mate- Osarodion Ogie secretly.
“If you truly have the interest of the state at heart, come out and support the PDP candidate and you will be protected.
“We will not allow them to harass or intimidate you.
“The truth now is that, the group has gone into extinction because those who claim to be the leaders of Legacy today are not truly Legacy.
“They joined the party between 2008 and 2010, that is 10 years after the establishment of the PDP.
“So, how can tenants be claiming ownership of a property they didn’t build or purchase? It’s horrendous!
“I call on my good friends who are reaching out in private, to openly step out of the cold and join the moving train of Asue Ighodalo before it’s too late.
“I won’t mention your names. You know yourselves. Be bold enough and come out of the shackles and shadow of political slavery and coven of manipulations” Okpebholo advised.
The PDP stalwart added that Asue Ighodalo has brought nothing but peace, love and unity that once eluded the party.
He noted that everybody who means well for the party and Edo state has embraced the fresh breath of air that has pervaded the atmosphere since the coming in of the governorship candidate of the party.
He said that the so called Legacy Group still have the time to make amend while it is not too late, just as he said those who have chosen to work against the party as usual, will not be allowed to stay in the party and destroy it.
He said that with or without the Legacy Group, the party will still win the forthcoming governorship election because of the personality of the candidate of the party.
He said Asue Ighodalo is a man with a proven record that doesn’t require stress to market and that instead of every member of the party to rally round him, some are claiming Legacy Group and trying to be a clog in the wheel of the party’s progress.
He said that he is not bothered because he believes that no one can stop a man and an idea whose time has come adding that, Asue Ighodalo’s time has come and there is nothing anybody can do about it.
