The Arewa Youth Assembly has commended the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Sunday Ochono, for his transformative leadership and significant achievements in reshaping the agency.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the AYA Publicity Secretary, Aliyu Muhammad, countered recent accusations against Echono, highlighting his dedication to advancing education in Nigeria.

Muhammad emphasised Echono’s successful efforts in addressing challenges across educational tiers, revitalising infrastructure, promoting research and publication, boosting educator morale, and fostering a conducive learning environment.

“Mr. Echono’s diverse experience and expertise have equipped him exceptionally well for his role as TETFund Executive Secretary,” Muhammad stated. “His impact, particularly in the Northern regions, has been profound, driving remarkable progress in education.”

He attributed the increased research activities and higher education pursuits in the North to Echono’s leadership and TETFund’s accessible resources.

Muhammad lauded Echono’s nationwide achievements, including optimising fund management and forging strategic partnerships with prestigious organisations like the University of Brazil and the British government.

He also commended Echono’s support for the Anti-Plagiarism Test developed by the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, effectively addressing academic dishonesty.

“Mr. Echono leads TETFund with the highest levels of accountability and transparency,” Muhammad concluded. “He is a unifying figure, committed to the fund’s mission, vision, and objectives.”
