A change of baton has occurred at the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, with the deployment of a new General Officer Commanding, Brig. Gen Bulama Biu.

Gen. Biu replaced Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Yusuf who has been deployed to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja, as Director Army Consult.

Gen. Yusuf, while handing over the command of the four-year-old division to the new GOC at the Maimalari Barracks, Maiduguri, of Friday, said his high-point of service was the destruction of Boko Haram enclave at the heart of Sambisa, the insurgents’ major operation base.

“The high point in the division has been successful destruction of Boko Haram terrorists camp at the heartland of Sambisa. I mean places like Camp Zero, Pariso and other enclave,” Gen Yusuf said.

He urged the new GOC to continue with the team work of officers and soldiers in the division, noting that team work accounted largely for the success of the various operations against Boko Haram in the area.

The 7 Division of the Nigerian Army Maiduguri was established in 2013 to to boost the counter insurgency Operation.
