In a swift response to intelligence reports, the Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for a spate of armed robberies in the Kabayi, Aso Pada, and Mararaba areas of Karu Local Government Area.

According to a press release signed by the PPRO of Nasarawa- command, DSP Ramhan Nansel and sent to reporters on Sunday noted that the police acting on credible information, police operatives from Mararaba ‘A’ Division set up a stop and search point in Kabayi in the early hours of 25th May 2024.

According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect, identified as David Samuel, 26, was successfully apprehended during the operation. “Our eagle-eyed operatives sighted the suspect and made the arrest,” stated DSP Nansel. Upon his arrest, authorities recovered a locally fabricated Barretta Pistol along with one live ammunition, further implicating him in the reported crimes.

DSP Nansel affirmed the suspect’s cooperation, noting, “The suspect has made useful statements.” This development marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region. Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has directed that the suspect be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The arrest highlighted the commitment of the Nasarawa State Police Command to ensure the safety and security of residents. “We remain resolute in our determination to rid our communities of criminal elements,” While urging members of the public to continue providing vital information that aids law enforcement efforts.

“We are actively pursuing leads to apprehend other members of the syndicate,” DSP Nansel assured. The collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the community are crucial in maintaining law and order.
