The national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja was yesterday thrown into apprehension over the news of the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by his ward in Kano.

The perplexed Secretariat staff were seen standing in pockets of groups discussing the development and expressing concerns whether the same fate that consumed Comrade Adams Oshiomhole will befall their Chairman.

The apprehension heightened when the embattled chairman and former Kano State governor billed to preside over the regular weekly National Working Committee (NWC) meeting failed to show up.

To worsen their anxiety the very few national officers that reported to the secretariat hurriedly left after spending few minutes.

Among the national officers that breezed into the national secretariat and left were the Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Eneukwu, National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, who left immediately after presenting certificate of participation to the aspirants for this weekend’s Ondo State governorship primary election, among other insignificant number.

Although the NWC meeting could not hold as arranged, the late arrival of the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru and the Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, however brought temporal relief to the staff anxiously expressing concerns over what become of Ganduje.

Some of the secretariat staff that spoke to our correspondent admitted serious worry over the future of their boss, wondering if he can wriggle out of the situation that consumed his predecessor few years ago.

“He would not have even allowed the pronouncement to take place in the first place. Now that the suspension has been announced, it may go beyond the state chapter exco overturning the ward exco decision. Was there any weapon Oshiomhole did not apply to upturn his suspension, including obtaining several court judgments, yet he could not escape the dangling hammer.

“I learnt that our chairman has returned from his trip to lesser Hajj and was billed to preside over the NWC meeting on Monday, but he could not come as expected. I hard that he went to the airport as one of the dignitaries to receive President Tinubu returning to Abuja, but for the other national officers to coming and going means that the NWC meeting will not hold again,” some of the staff that pleaded anonymity told Daily Sun.
