Delta State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has approved the expulsion of the former Executive Director (Finance and Projects) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Cairo Ojuogboh.

A statement by APC state Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, said the approval of Ojuogboh’s expulsion was effected during the State Executive Committee in Asaba on Thursday.

Onojeghuo said the decision followed the resolution and adoption of the notice of expulsion earlier imposed by the executive committee of the Ika South Local Government Area chapter of the party on the 27th March, 2023.

“Consequently, in line with the provisions of Article 21.1(I)(ii), 21.3(iv) and 21.5(g), of the constitution of the party, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh hereby stands expelled from the party with immediate effect for various acts of anti-party activities and gross misconduct that has brought public opprobrium and ridicule to the image of the party.

Any member of the public that deals with him, does so at his or her own risk as the party will not be held liable,” the statement read.

Ojuogboh had brushed aside his expulsion by his local chapter of the party, saying the Deputy Senate President and governorship candidate of APC, Ovie Omo-Agege, was venting his frustration on members after losing the gubernatorial election.

The protem secretary general of the National Coalition for Peace and Unity, declared that his expulsion was dead on arrival.

According to him, the Deputy Senate President intended to cow members and make them his stooge, adding that his action during the governorship election in Delta where some electoral officers were held hostage, did not conform with his office.

“The issue he has with me is because I speak the truth. At my age I will not be afraid to speak the truth. The tickets for Senatorial, House of Representatives and Governorship were bought by by Omo-Agege and he gave it to whoever he wanted.

“The way he handled the affairs of the party in the state left much to be desired. His attitude is unbecoming of somebody who is holding the position of the Deputy President of the Senate.

“It is unfortunate that he is trying to cow all of us. He can’t cow me, I am too big for that,” he contended.
