The Initiative For Transparency and Justice, a Non Governmental Organisation, has described the wave of protests against the Chairman of Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulradheed Bawa as the handwork of corrupt individuals who might be under a series of investigation for graft offences.

 The National Chairman of the group, Comrade Shehu Isah S.Kudu and General Secretary, Comrade Usman Mohammed Anache, stated this in a statement they jointly signed and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

They noted that from history, corruption fighters in Nigeria, always faced the type of challenges the current EFCC chairman was facing, stressing that from the first chairman of the Commission, to Ibrahim Magu, none of them was celebrated due to the activities of organisations sponsored by the corrupted elements in both public and private sectors.

According to them, “in the past few weeks, the EFCC chairman had been facing a wave of protest from various groups across the country.

“We are not surprise that the names of the organisations trying to represent geopolitical zones in Nigeria, were a fraudulent setup sponsored by individuals with corruption cases.” 

The group which also faulted alleged court contempt against Bawa, explaining that a court had on November 10, 2022, nullified it’s committal order following an application by the EFCC.
