The wife of the Anambra State governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has assured that the 75-year-old man accused of abusing and defiling an 8-year-old girl in Awka will face the full weight of the law.
Responding to the arrest of the suspect, a barber who allegedly lured, abused, and molested the minor in his house, Mrs Soludo stated her commitment to follow up on the case and ensure justice prevails. She urged the public to remain calm and allow law enforcement agents to conduct a thorough investigation. Regular updates on the case will be provided to the public.
Mrs Soludo emphasized that Anambra State has zero tolerance for abuse of any kind. The current administration takes such issues seriously and ensures that offenders are severely punished. She commended the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare for its prompt action in addressing the matter.
The governor’s wife stressed that every child in Anambra deserves a safe and thriving environment where they can pursue their dreams. She will continue to use her non-governmental movement to raise awareness and educate the public on social causes.
Mrs Soludo appealed to parents and guardians to be vigilant about their children’s surroundings, whereabouts, and interactions. She further emphasized the critical role society plays in ensuring that perpetrators face justice, rather than being shielded from their crimes.
