Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa in company of other senior members of the team on Tuesday night, initiated the new goalkeeper trainer and four other players into the national men’s football team.

The “initiation” comes a few days to the 2023 AFCON qualifying double fixture against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau. Nigeria hosts the first leg on Friday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, with the reverse fixture billed for Monday, March 27, at the Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau.

Flying Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Baruwa Olatunji who was called to replace Ike Shorunmu, Bruno Onyemaechi (Boavista), goalkeeping duo of Victor Sochima (Rivers United), Chijioke Aniagboso (Giant Brillars) and Flying Eagles captain, Daniel Bameyi all performed at the Super Eagles initiation ceremony held at the John Wood Hotel.

Olatunji, Onyemaechi, Sochima, Aniagboso and Bameyi took turns to thrill their new teammates with some good Naija vibes, as Ahmed Musa captured the event live on social picture blogging app, Instagram.

The initiation ceremony generated lots of comments from Nigerians who are expecting to catch a glimpse of the game, with the quartet who made Jose Peseiro’s list seeking their debuts for the Super Eagles team.

Friday’s meeting will be the second time the Eagles and Guinea-Bissau have locked horns, after their first encounter in the group stage of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon which the three times AFCON kings won 2-0.

The Super Eagles currently top the Group A standings with 6 points from two games, while Guinea-Bissau sits in second position with 4 points from the same number of games, Sierra Leone (third position with 1 point) and Sao Tome and Principe (fourth position with no point).
