Gunmen suspected to be cultists on Saturday night shot dead a printer identified as George Johnson Sopruchi at Abakiliki street close to Emenike, Mile 1 Diobu, in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.


An eyewitness who craved anonymity disclosed that the gunmen trailed the printer to Abakiliki close to Emenike Street at about 8:30pm and shot him dead while he was discussing with someone.


The eyewitness also disclosed that the gunmen carted away his motorcycle and one of his mobile phones.


The source stated that passers-by rushed the victim to the hospital were he was confirmed dead on Sunday morning.


Recall that the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police, Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), had confirmed the killing of a man last Thursday night at Nanka/Lumuber Street, Mile 1 Diobu.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) added that investigation was ongoing to apprehend the culprits.


The Rivers Police Command was yet to respond to the latest incident at Abakiliki Street.


Meanwhile, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, has warned cultists and other criminals to steer clear of crime, as the full wrath of law would befall culprits.


Disu reiterated the warning in a statement on Sunday, by the PPRO of the command, Iringe-Koko, while announcing the arrest and arraignment of main suspect, Ejike Samuel and his accomplice, Victor Kokoriko, in the Port Harcourt gang war last month.


The statement disclosed that the suspects were arrested by Mile 1 Police Division and later transferred to Anti-Cultism Unit of the Force following credible intelligence.
