The Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, made history by graduating the first set of medical students in record time of six and half years.

According to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, (NUC) Prof Abubakar Rasheed and the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, and the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Tajudeen Sanusi, the graduation of the 43 medical students in record time at the university is unprecedented.

Speaking while inducting the young men and women into the Nigeria medical profession, Sanusi said:

“Some institutions were unable to graduate their doctors for 13 years this is not so, reason being that as regulators we insist on maintaining the minimum standard which is non negotiable because doctors deals with human lives.

“Being the first of ABUAD, I must tell you that it is a bug congratulation to the founder and lecturers of this institution.

This is just the beginning of the journey, MBCN will not compromise at any time but we will work with you to continue to strengthen the standard of medical profession and education.”
