From Okey Sampson, Umuahia

An Abia-born Christian, Benedict Eke said he spent 29 years in inventing a Bible Game known as Bible Verses Reciting Game (BIVREG).

Speaking during the launch of the game in Aba, Eke who hails from Umuenyere Alayi, in Bende Local Government Area, said he began work on BIVREG in 1995.

Eke who said the invention of BIVREG was his own contribution towards the propagation of the gospel, said the game is played with three dice and it helps in the study and memorization of the Bible.

“It allows the players to read the Bible verse by verse, as it contains all the Bible verses from the Old to New Testaments inside the board.”

He explained that the game was created to allow the majority of Christian families to study the Bible, and memorize it in a very exciting way that creates more interest and the urge to know more.

“BIVREG as a game, can be used by parents, churches and all Christian bodies to bring back the serious search and hunger of the youths to go through the Bible in a manner that has never been seen before.

“It helps in having in-depth knowledge of the Bible. It is Good for Children, adults and everyone. Very interesting to be used in church programs for children, youths, women and Men.”

Explaining how the game is played, Eke said, “Wherever the dice fall when rolled out by an opponent, the other player or players are expected to recite what is written in that verse or search through the Bible to know it, understand and explain it.

“It’ll continue like that until a specified set required to win the game is reached and the winner emerges as the best in Bible knowledge and study for the day. So, BIVREG can feature in all Christian programmes with prizes set for the winners.

“In this era when Christians are mistakenly shifting and drifting aware from what the Bible says to what men are saying, in this era when the erroneous teachings of men and militancy in the name of Jesus is occupying the heads of Christians, I believe that BIVREG has come to softly drive the church back to the scripture with a little touch of excitement.”

He announced that plans were on to create the software version of BIVREG to be on the phones of every interested Christian who will use it to grow and develop his/her knowledge of the Bible on a personal basis.

Christian leaders at the presentation of BIVREG described the game as the first of its kind and promised to see that it is adopted as an important Bible study tool in their various churches, adding that it can specially reposition Bible study.
