Former Senate Minority Leader, Chief Enyinnaya Abaribe of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has defeated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Chinedu Onyeizu of the Labour Party (LP), to get re-elected to the Senate to represent Abia South.

The Returning Officer for Abia South National Assembly elections, Prof. Georgina Ugwuanyi, announced this on Tuesday, while addressing party agents at the collation centre in Aba.

Declaring the result, Prof. Georgina Ugwuanyi said Abaribe scored 49,693 to win the election.

Prof Ugwuanyi announced that LP’s Onyeizu scored 43,903 to come second, while Gov. Ikpeazu scored 28,422 votes to clinch the third position. 

The result for Aba South/North Federal Constituency according to the Returning Officer shows that LP’s Emeka Nnamani polled 35,502 to defeat Alex Ikwechegh of APGA who polled 22,465 votes, while the incumbent Rep. Chimaobi Ebisike of PDP scored 13,388 votes to come third.
