While getting an award for work done and/or for your efforts isn’t a stamp of approval it is always an honour to get nominated for an award.
it is doesn’t necessarily mean that you are better than your peers rather it’s a commendation that for the period or year in review you stood tall amongst them and put in the extra in the extraordinary that made your efforts outstanding enough to gain accolades. It is often seen as proof and affirmation that your contribution no matter how small was not in vain.
In every sphere of life getting nominations or winning awards is always a morale boost. In the music or entertainment business it one sure way to tell the creative (artist, producer, engineer, song writer or their management/label) that their input is seen and appreciated. While most awards don’t come with any form of monetary compensation it motivates everyone involved in making the song/record/album to do even better in the coming year.
The Channel O Awards, a yearly event is one of the top and most recognized awards in the African music and entertainment industry. It is organized yearly by Channel O, a South African Music channel operated by Multichoice’s DSTV a cable network that transmits and beams its service around the African continent to more than 12 countries including Nigeria and South Africa.
So it was a proud moment for Toks Asher Young as EXECUTIVE PRODUCER of the record, when CHAMPION REMIX by General Pype featuring Vector, Naeto C, Sasha P & GT The Guitarman was nominated and won the Channel O Most Gifted Ragga and Dancehall Video 2010.
For Toks “CHAMPION” winning the award was proof that nothing beats hard work. Past winners of this award include Buffalo Soulja a Zimbabwean dancehall artist based in South African.
Fast forward to 2018 when Toks got His first personal recognition award as “NIGERIAN HYPE AWARDS 2018 Manager Of The Year”. This time not as an executive producer but for his frontline services as a talent manager.
