President Muhammadu Buhari and Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, who is also the senator-elect for Ogun Central, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC),  met behind closed doors, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday.

Last Friday, the APC National Working Committee (NWC) suspended Amosun, his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha, as well as the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani.

They were suspended for alleged anti-party activities.

Discussions between the president and the governor were not made public; although a photograph of the duo shaking hands inside the Villa circulated on the internet, yesterday night.

Although Amosun campaigned vigorously for Buhari’s re-election, he has stridently backed the Ogun State governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Adekunle Akinlade, for the March 9 governorship election in the state.

Akinlade, before moving to the APM, was one of the APC governorship aspirants who lost to Dapo Abiodun, who reportedly had the backing of APC topshots.
