Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Tuesday said his administration had renovated over 300 schools under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
Akeredolu made this known in Akure during a courtesy visit by Ikota Progressive Union from Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.
He explained that his administration was not establishing new schools but renovating the existing ones to a better standard.
The governor further revealed that SUBEB would soon commence another round of interventions, adding that SUBEB had commended renovation of 30 secondary schools in Ifedore LGA.

He also said that the Ikota road linking Ijare and Ilara was included in the Rural Access Mobility Project (RAMP) in conjunction with the World Bank and promised that the project would soon commence.
“On the health centre, we will call those handling our primary health centres to go and look at them, to determine why there is no staff or drugs. Am surprised, it is happening when you are so close to Akure,” he said.
Earlier, Mr Ebenezer Olorunfemi, President of Ikota Progressive Union (IPU), appealed to the governor to assist with the reconstruction of township roads to enable farmers transport their produce to urban areas.
“The condition of the roads is deplorable and our people are encountering a lot of difficulties in transporting their goods.
“Our Health Centre too needs urgent attention, in terms of more staff and drugs so that our people can have access to good health facilities.
“Also, Emmanuel Anglican Primary School, Ikota was damaged by rainstorm and this has subjected pupils of the school to learn under an unconducive atmosphere,” he said.
Also, Mr Bamidele Oleyeloogun,the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, said the community road project was already embedded in the budget, adding that it would get the desired attention after the raining season.
Oleyeloogun, thanked Akeredolu for the promises he made to the community and described him as a man who was concerned about the well-being of his people.
Akeredolu, a legal practitioner, took oath of office in Akure on February 24, 2017 as the 7th governor of the state.
