Commodity index released by Novus Agro Nigeria for select markets across the country for this week showed that Dawanau Market in Kano State, which never looks dull as regards trading activities, including regular price changes, shows that drum beans (olotu) rose to N35,600 from N34,000 for a 100kg bag. Edible groundnut fell to N28,800 by a N3,200 difference with garri (white) rising to N7,400 by a difference of N400. Red sorghum (100kg bag) is selling for N10,240, less than its last week’s price by N293 while maize (white) rose to N12,040 for 100kg bag.

At Bodija Market in Oyo State, red sorghum and groundnut (edible) prices did not change from their previous N15,000 and N37,000 respectively per 100kg bag. Meanwhile, the price of maize (white) rose to N12,330 increasing this week by N1,333. Just as the first commodity mentioned, garri (white) and drum beans (olotu) both remained at their normal N15,000 and N44,000 respectively.

At Mile 12 Market in Lagos State, one of the famous and busiest markets in the centre of excellence, garri (white) of 60kg and red sorghum of 100kg both sold for N12,000 and N17,000 respectively, nothing different from last week. Meanwhile, drum beans (olotu) slightly increased to N55,000 from N54,833 just as groundnut (edible) rose to N33,000. Maize (white) fell to N12,000 by a difference of N1,667.

A price survey of Anchau Market in Kaduna State revealed that a 50kg bag of garri (white) remained same as N17,000. likewise red sorghum and groundnut (edible) were normal at their previous prices of N11,000 and N30,000. Meanwhile, maize (white) fell slightly to N9,500 from N10,000.

At Nkwor Nnewi Market, Anambra State, prices never changed here, as red sorghum remained at N20,000 while maize (white) was N16,000 with groundnut (edible) going for N23,000 for a 100kg bag. The price of garri (white) decreased a little for a negligible difference selling for N9,000 while drum beans (olotu) remained at N28,000.
