• I’ll appeal – Gov

Barely three months after the Supreme Court affirmed his election as Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has been kicked out by the Federal High Court, Abuja, which cancelled his nomination as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the governorship election.
In the ruling of Justice Okon Abang on the tax evasion case instituted against Ikpeazu, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Dr. Uche Samson Ogah, who came second in the PDP primary.
Ikpeazu was also ordered to vacate office with immediate effect.
The court ruled that since Ikpeazu is guilty of tax evasion, he was not qualified to seek the ticket of PDP and to stand for election.
Ogah had instituted a case against Ikpeazu, alleging that the tax clearance certificates he submitted with his governorship nomination form were fake.
Reacting to the judgment, Governor Ikpeazu said he will appeal.
