Awkuzu community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, yesterday, played host to Governor Willie Obiano’s supporters who organised a rally to support his second term bid.

The coordinator of the group of supporters, Ekene Enefe, told those at the community’s civic centre where the event took place that there would be no room for election riggers and told voters that they could accept any gift or gratification offered them by other political parties but should insist on Governor Obiano for a second tenure.

Enefe said the support group has visited over 40 out of the 179 communities in the State to sensitize voters on what the governor has achieved in various communities across the State. He said that apart from sensitizing voters on the need to re-elect Obiano, the communities visited had the opportunity to present their needs through the support group which he said would be attended to without wasting time.

“After what the Governor has done in his first tenure  in the areas of security, agriculture, prompt payment of workers salary, social infrastructure, among other things, we should not hesitate to give our support to continue for second tenure,” Enefe said.

The Council Chairman of Oyi, Uchenna Okafor, said that those in attendance cut across people from other parties which he believes is an indication that the project was all about re-electing Obiano and not a party affair.

One of those in attendance, Emmanuel Nweke, drew the attention of Obiano’s representatives to the issue of the constant flooding of the community and urged for governments’ intervention.
