Director General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Suleman Kazaure, has urged corps members serving in the North to be conscious of increasing activities of suspected kidnappers and armed robbers operating in the region.

He caution them against unnecessary travelling  which he said was capable of exposing them to armed robbery and kidnapping.

Gen. Kazaure stated this, on Tuesday, while on an assessment tour to the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Mangu, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The Director-General, who was represented by acting Director, Certification, Lady Clara Aniekwe, said the Federal Government would do everything possible to guarantee security of corps members and urged them to be security conscious.

“You should always be security conscious in your place of primary assignment and report suspicious activities of armed robbers to constituted authority. You should be of good behaviour, patience, hardworking and take advantage of the scheme to impact positively on your host community.”

He urged them to shun unauthorised travelling to avert road accident, activities of armed robbers and kidnapers as they are source of joy to their parents and the society.

Plateau State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Akin-Moses, said security has been beefed up in camp, as all the security agencies and NYSC security committee is working 24 hours to safeguard lives and properties of corps members.

She added that security personnel conducted thorough search of prospective corps members before they were allowed in to the camp, while all people and vehicles coming in and out of the gate are checked and scrutinized.
