Kwara State Police command has arrested 46 suspected members of various cult groups said to have been terrorising residents of the Ilorin metropolis in the past few days.

Daily Sun gathered that the suspect had unleashed terror in such communities as Ile-Film/Bolanta road, Eleran compound, Baboko, Ile Onimago, Adabata, and Eruda between Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14.

It was also gathered that at least one life was lost while several people sustained machete cuts during the attack and counter-attacks among the cult members.

It was learnt that the miscreants who engaged in a violent confrontation; a free for all, used weapons such as broken bottles and stones, leading to the blockage of Baboko Road.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state Police command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the command said 14 out of the 46 suspects have been linked to the recent cult activities in the Ilorin metropolis.

Normalcy has since been restored to the affected areas, the road barricades cleared and residents able to resume their daily activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.”
