Nigeria’s Super Eagles will know their group opponents in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on July 12 in Benin as the African soccer ruling body announced the date for the draw, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Executive Committee of CAF led by Patrice Motsepe held their emergency meeting in Algiers the capital of Algeria.

Some key decisions were taken after the meeting and the format for the qualifiers was top on the agenda.

The new format of the Africa zone qualifiers is adapted to the expanded format of the FIFA World Cup.

The 54 member associations of the body will be divided into 9 groups and the winners of each group will automatically qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The four best runners-up (from Groups) will play in a CAF playoff tournament.

The winner (CAF play-off tournament) will participate in the FIFA playoff tournament.
