The National Population Commission (NPC) has restated its readiness to conduct a credible, fair and acceptable census this year.

The Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State, Ejike Ezeh, made the declaration during an event organised by staff of the commission to celebrate his recent reappointment.

Ezeh said the commission had put every modalities in place and was only waiting for an order from President Bola Tinubu to commence the exercise.

He thanked the president for finding him worthy to be reappointed and commended the staff for their demonstration of love and oneness.

“The task now is that we have been reappointed by the president. We’re looking forward to giving the country a credible and viable census. That is the most important task now for us at the NPC.

“My assurance is that we will continue to work together and anything due for anybody will get to them. I will try to correct whenever mistakes  I make and try to make sure we continue our normal routine programmes.

“We will continue to consult with the old people in the job to make the coming census exercise a credible one, hoping that very soon, the president will call us for the exercise.”

Speaking earlier on behalf of the management, Head of Technical, Mr Kingsley Okereke, commended Ezeh for his reappointment, adding that they expected it due to his good leadership example.

He assured him of unalloyed support to ensure they achieve the mandate of the commission.
