Stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Nasarawa south senatorial district, have adopted deputy governor Silas Ali Agara, as the only candidate to sustain the legacies of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

The deputy governor received the endorsement, in Awe, Obi and Keana local government areas of the southern senatorial  zone of the state, on Wednesday, when he led members of his campaign team on consultation visit to party stakeholders in the areas.

Speaking separately during the occasion, Interim Management Committee chairman of Awe, Alhaji Hudu Tafida, and his counterpart in Keana, Hon. Mohammed Ayitogo, pledged total support and loyalty to the aspirations of the deputy governor to succeed the incumbent Governor Al-Makura

They said that his loyalty and detribalised posture has distinguished him from other aspirants wishing to contest the governorship seat of the state in 2019 and assured him of their total support to help him clinch the governorship seat in the state come 2019.

They described the deputy governor as a trustworthy son of the state who has shown competence, capacity, the administrative acumen and utmost love for the youth saying, “Hon Agara is our pride, he has fear of God, he is humble and has been supportive of the governor in whatever capacity and deserve to succeed his boss”

Speaking during the consultation visit, the deputy governor disclosed his readiness to approach the race with all commitment, adding that he has garnered enough experience to succeed his boss and continue with his legacies.

Hon Agara who is from the northern zone which has not produced a governor since the state was created, noted that he is eminently qualified to succeed his boss, governor Tanko Al-Makura saying that he is one among the earliest apostles of the Al-Makura mission to redefined the state.

He said that he has decided to heed the calls across the state and beyond to contest the 2019 election in the interest of the people of the state that have shown him overwhelming support and solidarity.

The 2019 governorship hopeful said the popularity being enjoyed today by the APC is as a result of the overwhelming support and loyalty accorded to leaders of the party at all level and urged them to keep faith with the party during the 2019 general elections.
