Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has offered 100 slots of employment to members of the state chapter of ex-service men into the state civil service to boost the security mechanism of the state.

Governor Al-Makura also donated N5 million and 18 sitter bus to the legion as part of his administration’s effort to provide succour to members of the legion. , noting that the decision is aimed at improving the living condition of the families of the fallen heroes.

The governor, who stated this in Lafia during the 2017 armed forces remembrance day, said the gesture was an appreciation of the fact that the ex-service men sacrifices their lives in the sustenance of the country.

Other items donated to the legion by the governor include: one hundred bags of rice, ten slot of employment chances to widows and children of fallen hero, adding that providing opportunities for their children and empowering their widows is the best way to honour the fallen heroes.

According to him, “We gathered here today to pay tribute to the fallen hero who fought to ensure the peace of this country we are enjoying today, I want to appreciate the resilience and perseverance they did to protect our lives and the unity of this country.”

He decried the activities of some criminals who want to cause disunity in the state and urged members of the legion to report any strange movement to government and security operatives for appropriate action for peace to rain in the state.

The governor however warned that anybody who is involved in any killing, creating problem, disunity or confusion will be brought to book to serve as deterrent to others.
