The Launching of the Nigerian Books of Record in 2011 marked a significant milestone in Nigeria’s history, as it aimed to document and recognize outstanding achievements, records, and contributions by individuals and organizations across various sectors. This report provides an overview of the event, its objectives, key participants, and its impact on Nigeria’s cultural and historical landscape.

The book was launched at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, on the 30th of December, 2011. And was graced by eminent Nigerians.

In the last eight years, the NBR has researched more Nigerians and documented exploits by these Nigerians from many walks of life. Creating records for several states in Nigeria and still counting.

In 2016, the NBR reached another level of success when President Muhammadu Buhari received them in Aso Rock. He commended the team led by the founder of NBR, Prof. David David for a good job they are doing. He thanked them for their patriotic intentions and encouraged them to continue to promote Nigeria nationally and internationally.

We want to look back into the event of the official launch of The Nigerians Books of Record in 2011.

The primary objectives of the launching of the Nigerian Books of Record were as follows:

a) Documenting Nigerian records: The event aimed to compile a comprehensive record of remarkable achievements, records, and milestones set by Nigerians in diverse fields such as sports, arts, science, business, and social initiatives.

b) Promoting national pride: By recognizing and celebrating outstanding accomplishments, the initiative sought to instill a sense of national pride among Nigerians and inspire them to strive for excellence in their respective fields

c) Preserving cultural and historical heritage: The Nigerian Books of Record aimed to preserve and showcase the rich cultural and historical heritage of Nigeria by documenting significant events, traditions, and achievements.

The Launching of the Nigerian Books of Record was organized by the Nigerian Books of Record Research Centre (NBR) in collaboration with Lagos State Government, cultural organizations, and private sponsors in 2011.

The event witnessed participation from distinguished personalities, including government officials: Representatives from the Nigerian government, including ministers and high-ranking officials, attended the launch to support and endorse the initiative. Some of the personalities who graced the event include Chief Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Chief Dele Momodu, and Dr. Sunny Obazu Ojeagbase, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and a host of others.

Also present at the event were cultural icons: Eminent artists, writers, musicians, and performers who have made significant contributions to Nigerian arts and culture were present during the event.
