The Zamfara State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) office has refuted social media posts by one of its Corps member, Mr. Chikelu Michael, alleging the brutalisation of his colleague.

The office claims the report as false and unfounded information and said it was capable of generating unnecessary tension.

Addressing journalists in Gusau, the state NYSC Coordinator, Hajiya Rahmatu Sanda, said the inflammatory action was unfortunate and would not be condoned by the scheme which strives to promote unity among Nigerians.

She, therefore, urged corps members to shun all negative acts which can bring disrepute to the scheme.

Also speaking, the Corps member, Chikelu  Micheal who posted the alleged brutalisation of his colleague,  Esi Uwakwe, which went viral on the social media, said he regretted his action as according to him, he never thought it would generate such huge controversy.

Michael said he did not realise that his action would cause this high reactions and dis harmony  among Nigerians as it did.

According to Michael, “I want to apologise to Kaura-Namoda people, Zamfara State people, NYSC and indeed the entire Nigerians over what I did. I am  also  advising other youths, especially corps members, against taking such reckless action in future,” he said.

The Corps member said the picture that was attached to that posting did not reflect the true situation and it was not that one of his colleague was  brutalised but that the picture was obtained from the internet.

Currently, the National Secretariat of the NYSC had taken over the case and it reported that the corps member Esi Uwakwe with NYSC number ZM/16B/2403 is now in Abuja without any indication that he was man-handled.
