The Edo State Command of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), on Wednesday, announced that seven persons lost their lives in several road accidents that occurred across the state during the Christmas and Boxing Day celebration.
The state’s Sector Commander, Samuel Odukoya, who disclosed this to journalists in Benin-City, explained that 91 persons were injured in the accidents.
He said some of the accidents occurred at night along the Benin-bye pass and advised motorists to be extra careful when driving at night.
Odukoya disclosed that he deployed 1,500 Special Marshals and 407 regular marshals to the highways to ensure safe driving during the Yuletide season.
He, therefore, urged motorists to always put their vehicles in good condition and avoid over speeding.
