From Oluseye Ojo, Ibadan

Prominent Yoruba people and other eminent Nigerians are now in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, for the mega summit of the Yoruba Standpoint on Restructuring that is ongoing at the main bowl of Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba.

The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Nwodo, also led a high powered delegation of South East, that included a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen Ike Nwachukwu (rtd), and former Minister of Information, Dr. Walter Ofonagoro, to the summit, being chaired be prominent lawyer, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN).

In attendance are Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose;  representatives of Osun and Ogun state governors; former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel;  former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko;, Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN); President, Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE); Chief Idowu Sofola(SAN); former Minister of Education, Prof Tunde Adeniran; former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.

Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Dr. Doyin Okupe, Dr. Kunle Olajide, Senator Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa, Otunba Gani Adams, Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu, Senator Gbenga Kaka, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele; Ambassador Babatunde Fadunmiyo from Lagos State, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, and others are also present.

Some of the royal fathers in attendance are Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun; and Ashipa Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Latifu Gbadamosi Adebimpe.

The speakers at the programme all agreed that Nigeria should be restructured into regional lines.
