Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party convention fixed for August 17 in Port Harcourt, a committee to organise the event, which would lead to election of new national officers for the party, would be inaugurated on Friday.
According to a statement issued last night by the secretary of the party caretaker committee, Senator Ben Obi, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has been nominated as chairman of the convention planning committee.
His Taraba State counterpart, Darius Ishiaku will serve as deputy chairman while Senator Ben Obi will serve as secretary with Dr. Ibrahim Umar as deputy secretary.
Others to serve on the 241-member committee include Ibrahim Dankwambo, Dave Umahi, Ifeanyi Okowa, Seriake Dickson, Ben Ayade and Udom Emmanuel, all governors of Gombe, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross Rvers and Akwa-Ibom states, respectively.
A finance committee with Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel as chairman and former Katsina State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema as deputy chairman would also be inaugurated on Friday. Senator Biodun Olujimi will serve as secretary of the committee.
