A member of a vigilance group in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Abu  Nasiru, has  revealed how he who was supposed to be the hunter now became the hunted as he allegedly robbed those he was paid to protect.

Nasiru while speaking with Sun Crime after his parade at the Kogi State police command, on Wednesday, said he decided to rob one Abukere Simon who he described as a notorious armed robber, dispossessed him of his gun and then sold it to one Emmanuel Joseph at N70, 000.

He said sometimes this month, he with his vigilance group member, were patrolling in Ochadamu  at about 2.00 am when they swooped on the alleged armed robber with three others.

He said, the two others managed to escape into the bush, but he used his juju to command Simon who he said was holding the gun ,captured him and dispossessed him of all he had.

” After beating him silly, we left him in an unconscious state , but the short gun I collected from him I went sell it at the rate of #70,000 to one Emmanuel Joseph before the police now arrested me with six of our members ” he added

Nasiru was one of the 35 suspects paraded yesterday at the police command by the Commissioner of Police. Wilson Inalegwu.

The suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from armed robbery  kidnapping, culpable homicide, raping, stealing, among others.

The police commissioner also used the occasion to decorate three officers promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police and Assistant Police Commissioner and presented two hilux vans and two buses to the state command.

The vehicles were provided by the Inspector- General of police, Mohammed Idris, to curb the crime rate in the state.

The CP while commending the IGP for his numerous supports to the command also thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for providing 10 Toyota buses to the command

He reaffirmed his commitment to making the state the most peaceful in the county and called on the citizens to give useful information to the police.

Items recovered include four Ak47 riffles, three locally made pistols, charms and other dangerous weapons.
