Pastor Samuel Mbanusi had an unusual encounter that transformed his life in 1986, while he was still in secondary school.
He saw himself in a lake of fire, where he struggled to escape but couldn’t. The revelation recurred in the evening of the same day and he knew for sure that the message was divine. That was an experience that totally changed his life, as he took up the mantle as an end-time preacher of faith. He became a full-time minister and, later, the general superintendent of Heavenly Life Bible Church Incorporated, Umunze, Anambra State.
Mbanusi, who is currently the president, Eziagu Born Again Association, recalled this divine encounter recently, during his 50th birthday and 25th anniversary of service in the Lord’s vineyard.
Giving details about the revelation, he said: “I joined the Scripture Union after that revelation. It was while I was with the Scripture Union that I heard a voice that called me with a definite mandate, ‘Come and liberate my people.’ I submitted to that voice.”
Answering the call brought several challenges. In 1992, he was led to Rev. Minna Ogaree, who advised him to go and gather the remnant of Zoe Ministries in Umunze. Without hesitation, Mbanusi left Port Harcourt to settle in Umunze community.
Despite his willingness to serve in the vineyard, his faith came under test when he started the church with only five members. But like the biblical mustard seed, the ministry has blossomed over the years, bearing fruits of salvation for innumerable people. He has travelled widely and is a highly sought-after preacher of righteousness.
While commending the pastor on his golden jubilee celebration, Mr. Uche Chukwudire, national director, Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship, who was the chairman on the occasion, described Mbanusi as a man that remains passionate about spiritual life. He encouraged him not to relent in his good work of winning back the lost sheep. He also warned Christians never to abuse the grace freely given to them but to reciprocate the love of God by doing His will.
Also, a member of the church, Mr. Adebayo Olugbeja, described Mbanusi as a dedicated servant of God, who seeks heavenly things above earthly gains. He commended his unassuming lifestyle, charity and selflessness as exemplary qualities of a servant of God.
Speaking at the celebration, Rev. (Prof.)Christopher Anyanwu of the International College of Missions and Theology, Nnewi, Anambra State, urged Christians to shun attitudes that do not bear true witness to the faith they profess but to live in accordance with God’s will at all times.
He noted that God’s undeserved kindness to mankind must not be abused by humans. He warned that the great day of the Lord was draing near.
