In fulfillment of its promise to widen the range of Mercedes-Benz vehicles available in the Nigerian market this year, Weststar Associates Limited last week unveiled a “fireworks” of four new three-pointed star cars to the motoring press.
They are new, class-leading E-Class, GLE sport utility vehicle, the V-Class multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and GLC model {formerly GLK}.
While unveiling the new cars at Mercedes-Benz showroom in Ikate-Lekki, Lagos, Weststar, which is the authorised general distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Nigeria, tickled the guests’ fancy with a hint that in the course of the year, the momentum would be kept going with even more offerings.
Ushering in the sales and marketing team at the presentation, the Managing Director of Weststar, Mr. Mirko Plath, gleefully remarked that sales successes recorded by Mercedes-Benz globally in the past one year, is attributable to the new lineup of vehicles.
Reference was particularly made in the Mercedes-Benz showroom, including the GLC mid-size SUV, and the new E-Class  – with the latter contributing substantially to the recent feat of overtaking other luxury car brand rivals to occupy the number one spot {a landmark that  was achieved four clear years ahead of the predicted 20202 date}.
Plath was assisted by the General Manager {Sales & Marketing}, M-B Automobile Services Ltd {leading authorised Mercedes-Benz dealers} , Mr. Donald Nwankwo.
And when the Assistant Manager, Sales & Marketing, Mr Aminu Asipa, introduced the new E-Class, it did not surprise anyone that he employed exciting expressions to describe the luxury car’s endowments, even as he said it now looks sportier.
Asipa listed some the new E-Class’ features as wider bonnet, single, fine tail-lights and long air intake, adding that the car is imbued with a technology pioneered by Mercedes-Benz that enables it communicate with about the condition of the road ahead.
The new E-Class is available in Avantgarde, Exclusive and AMG equipment and trim levels, and now flaunts a new bumper, an upscaled ergonomic {multi-functional steering} and more technologically advanced COMMAND system which is capable of interacting with related systems in other Mercedes-Benz cars.
“We set standards in safety designs”, he tressed, disclosing that the new E-Class is 1.7 inches longer and 2.6 inches wider.
Next was GLC, the end result of the revamping of the GLK by Mercedes-Benz. GLC 300 was introduced by the Sales Manager, Mr. Christopher  Irumudomon, as scoring high on aerodynamics, sportiness fuel efficiency, which is one of its strongest points.
“It is a lot better than the predecessor, the GLK”, Irumudomon explained, stressing that the car’s sportiness is helped by a slight reduction in its height.
Also unveiled was the V-Class a high-end luxury MPV which derived most of its exquisite features from the C-Class.  The vehicle with an interior configured to be suitable for top executive who might wish to hold business discussions while on board, was presented to the press by the Deputy Sales & Manager, Mr. Kingsley Uwatse.
Assistant Manager {Sales & Marketing}, Mr. Omatsola A. Awala introduced the the new GLE400 4MATIC, an all-wheel drive SUV coupe.
