The Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University of Science and technology (RSUST), Professor B.B. Fakae has been kidnapped. He was abducted on Sunday evening on the Bori axis of the East-West Road while on his way back to Port Harcourt.

Sources said the vice chancellor was travelling with some of his children in his official car when unknown gunmen appeared from the bush and brought the vehicle to a stop. They threw the children out and drove away with the professor.

So far no group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
However, Daily Sun gathered that before the abduction, Prof. Fakae, a former rector of the Rivers State Polytechnic in Bori had received several threat letters.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Rita Inoma-Abbey (DSP), confirmed that the vice chancellor had received several text messages threatening his person, some of which he sent to the police.
She said official hunt for the kidnappers and their prime victim had begun.
