Group Managing Director of WACOT Rice Limited, Mr. Rahul Savara, has disclosed that the company’s rice mill in Argungu, Kebbi State, would creates 3,500 Jobs and production of 500,000 metric tonnes of rice annually after expansion.

Savara, who disclosed this during the pre- commissioning of  WACOT Rice Mill in Argungu noted that the mill would start with production of 120,000 metric tonnes of top-quality rice annually before it expansion.

The construction of the rice mill, it was gathered, started in February 2016 and it us scheduled to be formally commissioned in April,2017.

Accordong to Savara, “ Total investment in the WACOT Rice Mill exceed N10 billion,covering the entire rice value chain from seed multiplication and improving farming practices,to processing,branding and distribution of the rice.”

He disclosed that the Rice Mill ,the first rice plant in Nigeria with captive power co- generation facility,will generate one Megawatts of electricity from rice husk.

“Thus is in a bid to ensure that all by- products and waste products are fully consumed and the environment is protected. It is also fully equipped with a plant for treating water,which can then be used for irrigation”.

In his address, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State assured WALCOT Rice Limited that the people of the state would protect their investment and giving them maximum support to succeed.

The Governor said that due to Federal Government agriculture policies, his administration has achieved a lot in the last 18 months because the government had provided conducive environment for investors to come to the state.

The Governor added that the state during his administration has been known as  rice producing state across the federation stresses that he had received many awards because of the massive production of rice by farmers in the state.
