The University of Abuja has matriculated a total of 3,900 fresh students into various academic programs cutting across the nine faculties and the College of Health Sciences of the University.

Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Michael U. Adikwu, on the occasion, at the weekend, charged the students to seize the opportunity provided by the academic environment to prepare themselves for the task of nation building.

He said that Nigeria was passing through some hard times which included the incidents of youth unemployment and therefore urged them to rise to the challenge by being creative from day one in the university so that they can fend for themselves on graduation.

Professor Adikwu stressed the need for self-discipline which was necessary for serious academic pursuit and urged them to shun vices such as cultism, examination malpractices, truancy, and extremism in whatever guise.
