An undergraduate identified as Olusoji Thompson has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing his 86 year old father, Chief Clifford Olumekun.

The suspect allegedly carried out the dastardly act at the deceased’s residence located along Okeraye Street, Idepe in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Femi Joseph who confirmed the incident said the suspect is currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the command for further interrogation.

He said the police were yet to unravel the rationale behinde the suspect’s action, adding that the suspect was still under interrogation.

The PPRO said “the incident happened on January 2, 2017 and we have arrested the suspect. We are still interrogating him to know why he carried out such an act.”

He said after the police investigation, the suspect would be charged to court.

However, a source explained that the suspect packed the deceased’s lifeless body, wrapped it with a cloth and cleaned the blood stains in the room after he had killed him.

The suspect was alleged to have fled the town immediately after committing the crime.

The source said “when the family members got into the room they noticed the blood stains that were carelessly cleaned were also on the floor of the room.

“They also found out that blood stains that were supposed to be on the deceased’s body had been carefully cleaned and his corpse was wrapped in a big cloth as if he died naturally. “

The source added that the family immediately consulted the oracle to expose the killer but the suspect who had earlier allegedly fled the town showed up and confessed to the crime. He was later handed over to the police,” the source added.
