The euphoria of last Sunday night, at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos will change the face of hype concerts in Nigeria.

 

The event tagged the ‘Hype Concert’ was a gathering of Nigeria’s most celebrated hype men budding and A-list entertainers in the country who thronged the venue  to be part of the first ever hype music fiesta in Lagos.

The concert organized by Jerry Shaffer,  a popular Nigerian hype man known for his viral ‘Shedibalala’ creation, featured performances from popular hype men like  Do2dtun, Real Mc Fish, Shody, Sheye Banks, Jimmie the entertainer and a host of other equally talented hype men.

 

 

 

The night witnessed a large turnout of fans, entertainers who added verve to the show. Artistes like Fireboy, Peruzzi, Zlatan and others got the crowd screaming and yearning for more of their stunning stage craft. The hype men one after the other dazzled the audience with so much energy, throwing the crowd into different shades of pleasure.

One of the high points of the show was when the host, Jerry Shaffer mounted the stage. The crowd screamed in ecstasy as he serenaded them with his energetic performance. Another notable high point was the eclectic dance steps of talented Nigerian dancer, Pocolee which wowed the audience.

 

 

In the same vein, the concert also featured upcoming artistes and hype men like EmmyBlaq, Hype man drop and Voltage of hype who got the opportunity to showcase their craft.

Shaffer said: “At the moment, I have plans to start a hype academy and also host the Abuja edition of the ‘Hype Concert’.

 

So, it has been a struggle for Hype men. We never got that recognition, by being the life of the parties and events that push these artistes. Thanks to social media, you can be a hype man, drop a viral song and get your recognition for it. It is nice now that people are investing in the hype.
