There may be no elections in 2019 –Bafarawa

Former governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, has expressed doubts over the possibility of Nigeria holding the 2019 general elections.

He said the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government is too disorganised  and reckless to be entrusted with a crucial national assignment such as a general election.

According to Bafarawa, the atmosphere of  insecurity in the country, particularly the wanton destruction of life and property by agents of darkness are serious pointers to the fact that an election will be a dangerous gamble.
In a statement made available to newsmen, Bafarawa sid the federal government, under the APC, has clearly demonstrated through the party’s ongoing congresses that it does not have the capacity to preside over the affairs of a diverse and multi- ethnic country such as Nigeria.

“If the APC and its government cannot organise a peaceful, fair and credible congresses, how can it hold a general election that will most likely bring about a change of government?

“An election is a very serious event and a party or a government which cannot deal with its internal issues cannot face the reverberations of a general election.”

According to Bafarawa, “the problem with the APC is greed. Those at the commanding heights of the APC administration are driven by desperation.

“They want to hold on to power at all costs.”
“The result,” he said, “is the deadly struggle that has now manifested in the rancorous APC congresses across the country.”

Rancor during party activities is still part of the unsolved issues in our party management, it is not peculiar to APC and in the PDP we have seen worst forms, how can a party within a spate of 5 years have 5 Senate president? Bafarawa has forgotten all these and it was at a period Buhari helped him from opposition ANPP to become Governor of Sokoto state! This tongue in cheek commentary must stop, Nigerians are no longer fools.

the problem with we Nigerians is that we call a spade instrument of farming instead of its real name spade just for political expediency and self aggrandizement. The former governor of sokoto state bafarawa has just said the truth and nothing but the truth because of the prevailing circumstances in the country, instead, his views should be looked into , somebody there Mohammed bello is trying to compare non comparable just to curry favor of the ruling party or government. if i should ask Mohammed bello, were Nigerians killed the manner they were killed in this apc 3 years of governance during pdp 16 years of leadership of this great country. let us be factual when ever we are making any argument without minding whose ox is gored. as far as many nigerians are concerned, apc has failed. even if buhari is a saint, as far as the but ends on his table as the president, he has failed with his party apc period!.
