a staff of The Sun Publishing Ltd, Mrs. Olabisi Olaleye, has clinched the Best Female IT Reporter of the Year award (Print category).

The award was from organisers of the prestigious and annual Nigeria Mobile Economy Summit and Expo (NiMES) in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Communications.

Mrs. Olaleye won the award in Lagos, last Thursday.  She is also the author of a telecommunications book ‘Our Nigerian Story,’ and the first female IT reporter in Nigeria to a publish a book.

She had received another award for Outstanding IT Personality of the year,’ from the industry.

The event, which was tagged ‘The mobile economy impact in Nigeria: Policy, innovation and investment,’ was in conjunction with the Centre for Cyber Awareness and Development CECAD and the Ministry of Communications.

Speaking earlier,  CECAD President, Dr Bayero Agabi, said Mrs. Olaleye should cherish the award because “several think tanks in the industry met and took the final decision. It was a tough decision during the final selection process.”

Explaining the reason for the fourth NiMEs, Agabi said it was not about the technology of things but about what technology can do for the people.

“NiMES is all about how technology can make lives better.”

Other journalists who received awards were Mr. Adeyemi Adepetun of The Guardian, Best Male IT Reporter of the Year (Print), Mr. Remmy Nweke, Best Online Media of the Year and Mrs Chioma Ezike of Radio Nigeria  received Best Female IT Reporter of the Year (Broadcast).
