THE Federal Government on Wednesday said it has stepped up security at all its airports following Tuesday’s terrorists attack on Brussels airport in Belgium.
Spokesperson for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Yakubu Dati, told journalists that in addition to police, fresh scanners and sniffer dogs have been deployed to assist in detecting any form of threat or sabotage of the airports in the country.
According to him, aside security measures, FAAN had also taken the necessary operational measures in all airports to ensure hitch-free passage of passengers and cargo during the forthcoming Easter break.
“We will not leave any stone unturned to ensure maximum security at the airports especially with the Easter celebrations around the corner,” Dati said while condemning the attacks at Belgium airport.
“Sniffer dogs have been deployed to airports in conjunction with the Nigerian Police. And all the body scanners and Close Circuit Television gadgets that we have are now operational and beaming activities of all the airports live. The CCTV cameras mounted around the airports’ vicinity is to aid the joint security efforts,” he added.
