NIGERIA has been named as the 14th seed­ed country with 4 points ahead of the United States of America for the Rio 2016 Olympics table tennis event .

According to the chart released yester­day by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), China is the top seeded country with 30 points followed by Ger­many with 28 points.

Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri fell to the 27th position in the Men’s singles seed with his world ranking at 40.

Toriola, Africa’s most decorated would be par­ticipating in his seventh Olympic Games in Rio, which is the most of any African athlete from any Olympic sport.

For the women’s singles event, Nigeria’s flag bearer for the open­ing ceremony, Funke Oshoinake ranked 241 in the world is no 63 on the seed, while Edem Offiong, is a point above her standing at no 62 with a world ranking of 220.
