A Pastor with the Nigerian Baptist Convention has been killed by suspected armed robbers in Okitipupa, headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The deceased who was said to be the resident pastor of Goodnews
Baptist Church was reportedly shot dead by robbers who stormed his
resideence located within the church premises.
A source in the town hinted that the robbers rode motorcycle to the
deceased’s house where he was killed.
It was gathered that the robbers trailed the Pastor from an outing he
attended ay Ode Aye to his house.
The robbers, it was learnt went away with a motorcycle belonging to
the deceased pastor and some other items.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State
Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph confirmed the incident and said the
command has commenced investigation on the incident.
He said, “When we heard about the incident, our men moved to the scene
and we saw bullet wounds on his body. We will conduct an autopsy to
know the actual cause of the death. ”
In his reaction, the state chairman of the Christian Association of
Nigeria (CAN), Revd. John Ayo Oladapo urged security agencies in the
state to fish out the killers of the Baptist cleric.
Oladapo, who is also a Baptist pastor said “we are saddened by the
incident and we are imploring the police and other security agents to
fish out the killers and bring them to book.”
