IN response to the proposed hiring of foreign technical adviser for the senior national team, the Super Eagles, foreign coaches have flooded the Glass House, the secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), with their CVs and applications seeking to be recruited for the vacant job.

Although the NFF technical Sub-committee had in the recommendation sent to the executive committee of the football federation thrown the contest open between the foreign and local coaches, the agents of the former had shown desperation for the job by forwarding their CVs.

A reliable technical committee source who spoke to Daily Sunsports in confidence expressed shock over the development, stressing that even as the football federation was yet to formally request for applications for the position, the number of CVs received from foreign coaches was amazing.

Pointing out that applications are still pouring in, our source said that coaches like Harry Redknapp have indicated interest in taking over the vacant coaching job.

“Redknapp’s agent has established contact with us to indicate interest in the job. He has gone beyond interest by forwarding his email.”

He further disclosed that the NFF is however yet to start acting on the applications since the issue of how

the coach would be paid is still being sorted out with potential sponsors.

“As I told you, the federation has not started looking at the various options because there must be  cash backing before a final decision will be taken.”

The federation is exploring many options to ensure that payment of whoever we want to hire will not be an issue again,” he said.
