The Federal Government, on Monday, identified the killer of Mr. Habibu Almu,  an Immigration attaché at the Nigerian Mission in Khartoum, Sudan.

The government named Almu’s killer as Miss Inas Khalid Maikano.

Maikano, the government stated, is a student of Sudanese-Canadian College in Khartoum and a Sudanese of Nigerian origin.

The government also said investigations by the host authorities established that Almu was stabbed to death by Maikano.

In a statement by the spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tope Adeleye Elias-Fatile, the Federal Government said the Nigerian Mission in Sudan engaged the host authorities on the murder of Almu, who was an Immigration Attaché (I) in the Mission.

“Consequently, after several arrests of suspects and investigations by the host authorities, it was established that the deceased was stabbed to death by one Miss Inas Khalid Maikano, a student of Sudanese-Canadian College in Khartoum and a Sudanese of Nigerian origin.

“It was discovered during the investigations that after committing the heinous crime, the suspect stole some of the deceased personal belongings including cash.

“Miss Maikano had since confessed committing the crime and is being held in custody for further investigations after which she will be charged to court,” the government said.

The government  further said the Nigerian Mission in Khartoum will continue to monitor and follow up the case to ensure that justice is done on the matter.

It also said preparations were ongoing to convey the remains of Almu to Nigeria for proper burial.

“For the meantime, the process of conveying the remains of the late Mr. Habibu Almu to Nigeria for proper burial is being finalised,” the government said.

Recall that Daily Sun had last week Thursday, revealed the identity of the Immigration attaché as Habibu Almu.

Almu, an Assistant Comptroller of Immigration, was discovered to have been stabbed to death at his home in the Sudanese capital city of Khartoum, on Thursday, last week.

The Sudanese government Sunday, said it has arrested a woman accused of killing the Immigration Attaché at the Nigerian embassy in Khartoum.
